RUO Website Compliance Checklist: Disclaimers, Attestation, Age Gates and Copy
A page-by-page RUO website checklist covering disclaimers, copy, imagery, checkout confirmations and review operations. Not legal advice.
Read the guideNo website can be certified or guaranteed FDA compliant, and we never claim it. What we can do is build controls around the website elements FDA warning letters to peptide sellers have actually cited, and give your team and counsel a clear place to review them. This page is not legal advice.
In a December 12, 2025 letter, FDA said that "FOR RESEARCH ONLY" and "NOT FOR HUMAN USE" labeling did not change its conclusion. The letter quoted body-function and disease claims from product pages.
Seven letters dated March 31, 2026, published April 7, made the same point about research-use and "not intended for human consumption" labels. They cited therapeutic claims on product pages, bacteriostatic water sold alongside the peptides, code-name product labels and a community forum.
Five letters dated August 24, 2026 cited disease or body-function claims, bacteriostatic water sold alongside, dosing guidance and, in one letter, a peptide calculator. Every site used a research-use disclaimer. FDA judged each website as a whole, by its net impression.
The platform helps a team keep copy in line with its own policy. It does not make a product lawful. Removing claims does not change what a business sells or how it sells it, and a disclaimer does not decide intended use.
How the copy checker works →| What the letters cited | What to review on your site | Where the platform helps |
|---|---|---|
| Disease and body-function claims on product pages | Product copy, page sections, popups, emails and blog posts | The copy checker flags treatment, weight or fat-loss, muscle-building and anti-aging claims on products, pages, sections, emails and AI edits |
| Dosing guidance and calculators | Any dosing, units-per-day or calculator content | The checker flags dosing and injection language; whether to publish tools is your decision with counsel |
| Products sold alongside, such as bacteriostatic water | Your catalog and bundles | Your catalog is your decision with counsel; the platform does not decide what you sell |
| Code-name labels and community forums | Naming, forums, reviews and social links | Reviews and pages sit in the same admin; the checker covers storefront copy, not your naming strategy |
| Research-use disclaimers that did not change the conclusion | Whether the whole site matches the disclaimer | Configurable disclaimers at add-to-cart, cart and footer, plus attestation and age stored per order and blocked states you choose |
| "FDA approved" style authority claims | Badges, headlines and imagery | The checker flags "FDA approved", "clinically proven" and "doctor recommended" |
The copy checker runs in off, warn or block mode across products, pages, sections, header and footer, cart, popup, collections, emails and AI-agent edits. Research-use attestation and minimum age are stored on every order. You can open the store, add an age gate or require accounts, and block the countries and US states you choose.

Our free RUO copy checker is a simplified version of the platform's checker. Paste product, page or email copy and see flagged phrases with a reason. The disclaimer generator drafts footer, product, cart, checkout and terms text for counsel to review. Both run in your browser and send nothing.

No one can certify a website as FDA compliant. We build controls that help your team review the elements FDA warning letters have cited, such as claims, dosing language and disclaimers. Counsel decides what your business can sell and say.
Recent FDA warning letters say research-use labeling did not change the agency's conclusion when the rest of the site showed human use. A disclaimer is one part of a consistent site, not a substitute for it.
